Going into labor, I felt so much more prepared knowing that she would be there. The labor and delivery nurses were very impressed with her and singled her out as one of the best doulas they had ever worked with.

Frequently asked

The questions I hear most.

What does a labor doula actually do during birth?
I hold space and give support in any way you need. That looks like physical comfort (labor massage, position changes, hydrotherapy), emotional presence, evidence-based information so you can make informed decisions, and HypnoBirthing® relaxation if that’s your plan. I’m not there to replace your medical team — I’m there to support YOU.
Do you support hospital births, or only home and birthing-center births?
All of them. Hospital, birthing center, or home — I’ve supported birth in every setting. What matters is the support you need, not where your birth happens.
What if I’m planning a Cesarean?
I support planned Cesareans, too. We’ll prep together for what the day looks like — hospital logistics, what happens in the OR, skin-to-skin, breastfeeding in recovery. Having a doula at a planned C-section can be a game-changer for how that day feels.
Will you replace my partner or my midwife / OB?
Not at all. I complement them. Your partner stays your partner; your medical team stays your medical team. I bring an extra layer of calm, comfort, and information so everyone can focus on their role.
What happens if you’re unavailable when I go into labor?
Every package includes a backup doula — a trusted colleague I’ve vetted. You’ll meet her on a Zoom intro call before birth so she isn’t a stranger if she steps in. In practice, I very rarely miss a birth, but the backup is there so you always have coverage.
When should I book a labor doula?
Anytime from the moment you find out you’re pregnant. Most of my clients book between 20–30 weeks so we have time for real prenatal prep, but I’ve also joined at 38+ weeks when a family’s plans changed. If you’re wondering, reach out — we can figure out what makes sense for you.
When do you go on call?
24/7 on-call starts at 38 weeks in my Basic package, with virtual support throughout early labor and in-person support from active labor through birth. Full details are in the Birth Packages above.
