Doula support shouldn’t depend on your budget.
Every month, I set aside one birth support spot and one postpartum support spot for families enrolled in Medi-Cal, free or low-cost. Take one, or both if they’re open.
Every family deserves real support through pregnancy, birth, and postpartum. And I’ve seen what happens when cost stands in the way: families going through the hardest, most transformative weeks of their lives without a single extra set of hands.
So each month, two spots on my calendar belong to families who couldn’t otherwise afford doula care, one for birth support and one for postpartum. Same support, same attention, same me. The only thing that’s different is the price.
What does a Community Care spot include?

My complete Basic Birth Package, exactly as every client receives it: monthly prenatal check-ins, two in-home prenatal visits, 24/7 on-call starting at 38 weeks, in-person support from active labor through birth, immediate postpartum breastfeeding support, and a postpartum home visit.

The same postpartum support Medi-Cal covers: up to ten daytime postpartum visits. (See the FAQ below for more information about how Medi-Cal offers postpartum coverage) Postpartum care includes infant care, feeding support, meal prep, and hands-on help around the house, so you can actually rest and heal.

- 2. We meet virtually: a free consultation over Zoom or FaceTime, the same way I meet every client.
- 3. Show your Medi-Cal card: that’s the entire verification. Nothing is uploaded, photographed, or kept on file. No tax returns, no pay stubs, no paperwork. (I mean it!)
- 4. We get started: each month has one birth spot and one postpartum spot, and they follow your due date. If the spot for your due-date window is already spoken for, I’ll point you toward Medi-Cal covered doula care in your area, so you still leave with a path to support.

The questions I hear most.
Who is eligible for Community Care?
Any family currently enrolled in Medi-Cal. That's the whole requirement. You'll show me your Medi-Cal card during our virtual consultation, and that's it.
Do I need to send tax returns or financial documents?
No. I'll never ask for tax returns, pay stubs, or bank statements. You show your Medi-Cal card on our video call, and nothing is uploaded, copied, or kept on file. Your privacy matters to me as much as your birth does.
Is the service completely free?
It's free or low-cost, depending on what works for your family. We'll talk it through together at your consultation, one-on-one. Money will never be the barrier here.
What if the spot for my due date is already taken?
Because the spots follow your due date, I can't simply move you to a future month. But here's something worth knowing: Medi-Cal now covers doula services in California. If your due-date window is spoken for, I'm happy to point you toward Medi-Cal covered doula care in your area at your consultation, so you leave with a path to support no matter what.
What happens if you're not personally available?
If I'm not available around your due date, the spot may be offered with care from my mentee instead, a trained Doula, and only if you're comfortable with that. She would be the doula supporting your family, with me available to her as a mentor. You'll know exactly who your doula is before anything is decided, and the choice is always yours.
Can I choose between birth support and postpartum support?
Yes, and you can apply for both. Each month has one birth support spot and one postpartum support spot. Birth support is my full Basic Birth Package. Postpartum support is up to ten daytime visits. Most families need one or the other, but if both spots are open for your dates and your family needs both, they're yours.
What does Medi-Cal actually cover for doula care?
Worth knowing whether or not you end up in Community Care, because California now covers doula services through Medi-Cal. The benefit includes one initial visit, then up to eight more visits you can use for prenatal care, postpartum care, or any mix of the two. It also covers support during labor and birth, plus up to two extended three-hour postpartum visits after your baby arrives. Those eight visits are yours to spread out however your family needs them. Some mamas use most of them during pregnancy, and some save nearly all of them for the fourth trimester (those first weeks at home with your little one). If you need more postpartum support after that, Medi-Cal can cover up to nine additional postpartum visits with a recommendation from your provider.
