Doula services across the South Bay

The South Bay is my home. Torrance, Manhattan Beach, Redondo Beach, Hermosa Beach, Rancho Palos Verdes, Rolling Hills Estates — I've supported families across all of it, and all three South Bay hospitals are within minutes of my front door. This is where I do my deepest work.

About the area

Why South Bay families work with Denise

I've built my practice around the South Bay, and I say that without any marketing spin. This is the neighborhood where I live, where I grocery shop, where I know the back roads at 3 AM. When you call me in labor, I'm probably 10 to 20 minutes away.

The South Bay hospital trio is one of the strongest regional clusters in LA County for maternity care:

  • Providence Little Company of Mary (LCoM), Torrance: 35-bed Level III NICU, strong midwifery culture, community-hospital warmth within the Providence system. My most-attended hospital.
  • Torrance Memorial Medical Center: Cedars-Sinai affiliate with a 25-bed Level IIIB NICU. Excellent OB community, strong nursing culture, well-regarded by South Bay families for a generation.
  • Kaiser Permanente South Bay: the integrated-care option for Kaiser members. L&D is reliable and well-staffed within the Kaiser model.

South Bay families come in a lot of shapes. Young first-timers in Hermosa. Established families in Palos Verdes. Active-duty and veteran households. Filipino families with multigenerational traditions around postpartum care. Japanese families observing their own recovery practices. I'm not here to apply a single template to any of it.

Here's what stays consistent: the South Bay is where I'm most available, most flexible with scheduling, and most likely to have a slot open on short notice. If you're local, book sooner rather than later — but also know that I have more room to work with here than in my more distant service areas. Postpartum support across the whole South Bay is seamless for me.

Frequently asked

About supporting South Bay births

What does it mean that the South Bay is your home region?

It means I know these hospitals the way you know your own neighborhood. I know LCoM's overnight entrance, Torrance Memorial's parking structure, the names on the labor floor. It means my response time is measured in minutes, not assumptions. And it means postpartum visits here fit into my schedule more easily than anywhere else I travel.

Which South Bay hospital is right for me?

Depends on your insurance, your OB, and your priorities. LCoM is a great fit if you want a community-hospital feel with a strong midwifery presence and Level III NICU backup. Torrance Memorial is excellent if your OB is in the Cedars-Sinai affiliate network and you want a slightly larger academic footprint. Kaiser South Bay is the natural home for Kaiser members. I've supported births at all three and I'm happy to share what I actually observe.

I live in Rancho Palos Verdes / Rolling Hills — does that count as South Bay?

Yes, absolutely. RPV and Rolling Hills Estates are fully in my South Bay service area. The hill geography means a slightly different commute pattern, but the hospitals are the same South Bay trio, and postpartum visits are no problem. If you're on the Hill, we just factor in the drive to your specific neighborhood — usually still well under 30 minutes from my base.

Do you offer labor support for all three South Bay hospitals?

Yes. LCoM, Torrance Memorial, and Kaiser South Bay are all in my regular rotation. I attend births at each. You choose the hospital based on your provider and your preferences; I show up. The hospital doesn't dictate whether I can support you.
