Want the whole series?
Each class stands on its own, but the three are designed to be taken together. Day 1 helps you understand how birth works and map out your preferences, Day 2 prepares you and your partner for the decisions that come up along the way, and Day 3 gives you hands-on tools for labor itself. Taking all three means you walk into your birth with the complete picture (and bundling the series saves you $172 compared to registering for each class separately).

Hi! I’m Denise Curtis. I’m a CAPPA Certified Labor & Postpartum Doula, Childbirth Educator, and HypnoBirthing® Certified Educator in the Los Angeles area. I’ve helped thousands of families just like yours learn what to expect and how to face birth with confidence and readiness.
I’ve heard it all so many times:
“I likely want an epidural, but need to know more about it.”
“I don’t know what my rights are and I don’t want the providers doing things that I may not need or be okay with.”
The birth space is sacred and you should have full control over what that space looks and feels like at all times. The way to have that control is to understand exactly what’s going on in labor and be able to make fully informed decisions along the way.
Let’s get together for this 2.5-hour class and get you and your birth partner ready for the decisions that can come up in labor. Join me for an informative, fun, and transformative evening where I’ll walk you through the major medical interventions, one at a time.
Don’t wait! Class sizes are intentionally small to ensure personalized attention. Reserve your spot today and take the first step toward the birth experience you deserve!

Frequently Asked Questions
How long is the class?
This is a single 2.5-hour class held on a Monday evening from 7:00–9:30pm in Manhattan Beach. It is Day 2 of the 3-class Birth Map series.
Can I take this class on its own?
Absolutely. Each class in the Birth Map series stands on its own — you can take just the topics you want. And if you decide you want the full picture, the complete 3-class series is $499 (a $98 savings over registering for all three individually).
Am I able to bring my birth partner?
Absolutely! It’s best to bring whomever you plan to have as your main support person at your birth. That can be your spouse, significant other, friend, parent, or birth partner. (Only 1 partner is allowed per registration.) This class in particular is built around your partner — it’s where they learn exactly how to support you in labor.
When is the ideal time in pregnancy to take a Childbirth Class?
The ideal time to take a Childbirth Class is toward the end of your 2nd trimester. However, this class is open to individuals at any stage of pregnancy. Some may find it beneficial to take this class in their first trimester to ease anxiety or start the planning process. Whereas some may want to take the class in their third trimester so the information is fresh in their mind at birth.
How much does the class cost?
This in-person class is $199 per registration, which includes all of the handouts and materials provided to you in class. You may come alone or bring up to 1 partner with you. Want all three classes? The complete Birth Map series is $499 — a $98 savings.
What if I want the other two classes later?
Totally fine — lots of families start with one. If you’ve taken one class and want to complete the series, the remaining two classes are $300 (so you end up at the same $499 as the full series). Just reach out and I’ll get you set up.
Do you take insurance?
I do not take insurance. However, most insurance plans cover either part or all of a childbirth education class expense. Check with your insurance company or employer to find out if childbirth classes are included in your benefits. Childbirth classes are also eligible for payment through an HSA/FSA/HRA account. A detailed invoice and class outline can be provided for insurance reimbursement upon request.
What happens if Denise has to reschedule a class?
Sometimes a baby decides to arrive on class night! If I'm called to a birth, that week's class doesn't disappear: the entire series simply shifts one week forward, which is why each series lists one extra buffer date at the end. Please note the buffer date isn't a make-up session for a class you miss. If you know you'll be away for one of your class dates, reach out before the series starts and we'll figure out the best option together.
