Privacy Policy
Effective date: April 13, 2026
This policy explains how I, Denise Curtis — doing business as Denise Curtis Doula Services (“I,” “me,” “my”) — collect, use, and protect your information when you visit my website, book services, take a class, or create an account. I’m a doula and childbirth educator in Los Angeles, and I keep things straightforward: I only collect what I actually need to serve you.
Information I collect
- Account info: name, email address, and a password you create.
- Contact & booking info: information you submit through contact forms, class registrations, or intake questionnaires (e.g., due date, birth preferences).
- Purchase info: billing details are handled by a secure third-party payment processor — I don’t see or store your full card number.
- Birth plans and saved content: anything you create in tools like the Birth Plan Generator is stored under your account.
- Usage data: pages visited, device/browser type, and similar analytics collected via cookies and tracking pixels.
How I use it
- To deliver the services, classes, and digital products you’ve purchased.
- To send transactional email (confirmations, password resets, security codes).
- To send you marketing or educational email only if you’ve opted in. You can unsubscribe any time.
- To process payments and issue refunds.
- To improve the website and understand what’s useful to expecting families.
Cookies & tracking
I use cookies to keep you signed in, remember trusted devices, and measure site traffic. Third-party analytics and advertising tools may also set cookies or pixels to help me understand how the site is used. Most browsers let you block cookies if you prefer, though some features (like staying logged in) won’t work without them.
Your rights
If you’re a California resident, the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA) gives you the right to request a copy of the personal information I have on you, ask me to delete it, and opt out of “sale” of your data — I don’t sell personal data to anyone.
You can update most of your information from your account settings, or email [email protected] and I’ll help.
Data retention
I keep your account and related records while your account is active. If you ask me to delete your account, I’ll remove your personal information, except anything I’m required to keep for tax, legal, or fraud-prevention reasons.
Security
Passwords are hashed (never stored in plain text). The site runs over HTTPS, and database access is protected with row-level security so one account can’t read another’s data. No system is perfect, but I take this seriously.
Children
My services are for adults. I don’t knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 13. If you believe a child has given me information, contact me and I’ll delete it.
Changes to this policy
When I make meaningful changes, I’ll update the effective date at the top of this page and — if the change is significant — let active account holders know by email.
